About the Role
The Drilling Site Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and coordinating all drilling and underground utility installation operations on construction sites. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations and project specifications.
The Foreman manages field crews, equipment, and daily operations including trenching, horizontal directional drilling, potholing, vault and handhole placement, and fiber optic facility installation. Success in this role requires both leadership ability and the willingness to actively participate in field work when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily drilling and construction activities: trenching, boring, potholing, vault/flower pot placement, and fiber optic cable installation.
Lead by example — willing to work alongside crews and “get hands dirty” as needed.
Ensure strict compliance with OSHA 30 Construction standards; maintain daily safety logs and enforce site-specific safety protocols.
Complete and submit daily street sheets and ensure invoicing data is correct and submitted each day.
Facilitate underground utility locating, including coordination with 811/Call-Before-You-Dig ticketing, to ensure safe digging operations.
Train, manage, and motivate field personnel on safe work practices, equipment use, and quality standards.
Coordinate traffic control, site access, and communication with local authorities and utility locators.
Maintain accurate documentation of site activities, progress, and incidents using Google Suite, Monday.com, and mobile/desktop tools.
Oversee quality control to ensure all work aligns with engineering drawings, site plans, and client specifications.
Support troubleshooting and installation tasks involving telecommunications and fiber optic splicing equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
Must have a smartphone with a major network carrier.
3 years of construction foreman experience.
2 years of drilling experience.
English language proficiency.
OSHA 30 Construction certification.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and site plans.
Proficiency in using Google Suite, Monday.com, and mobile/desktop reporting tools.
Proven experience with horizontal directional drilling, trenching, boring, and underground utility installation.
Preferred Qualifications
CDL license.
Fiber optic splicing and telecommunications equipment installation experience.
Familiarity with traffic control management at construction sites.
Additional certifications related to directional drilling, pipeline safety, or utility locating.
Advanced proficiency in project management software and digital reporting tools.
