Senior Database Consultant

Key Responsibilities

• Kinetica Database Architecture & Design: Architect, design, and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance database solutions using Kinetica.
• Development & Implementation: Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, and User-Defined Functions (UDFs) to support application requirements.
• Performance Optimization: Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. Lead efforts in query tuning, resource management, and database configuration to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Native Feature Utilization: Serve as the subject matter expert on Kinetica's native features, including geospatial analysis, graph analytics (GSQL), and time-series functions. Drive the adoption and implementation of these features to solve complex business problems.
• Data Modeling & Ingestion: Design and manage data models and schemas. Implement and oversee efficient data ingestion pipelines into the Kinetica database.
• Operational Excellence: Create and maintain custom runbooks for database monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery procedures. Automate routine operational tasks.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, application developers, and business analysts to understand their data needs and provide effective database solutions.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team on Kinetica best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Experience: 8 years of experience in database development, with at least 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Kinetica DB.
• Kinetica Expertise:
• In-depth knowledge of Kinetica's in-memory, GPU-accelerated architecture.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning and optimization within the Kinetica environment.
• Extensive experience with Kinetica's native features, including:
• User-Defined Functions (UDFs) in Python, Java.
• Advanced geospatial queries and visualization.
• Graph analytics and GSQL.
• Time-series data handling.
• Proficiency in Kinetica administration, monitoring, and security management.
• Database Proficiency:
• Expert-level SQL skills.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
• Experience with other in-memory databases (e.g., SAP HANA, MemSQL, Redis) is a significant plus.
• Programming & Scripting:
• Proficiency in Python or Java for scripting, automation, and UDF development.
• Experience with shell scripting in a Linux/Unix environment.
