Definition:Under the direction of an assigned Director, perform a variety of relatively complex technical functions in support of the designated department, assist students, staff, and the public by providing information and appropriate materials.Distinguishing Characteristics:A Technician is trained or skilled in the technical aspect of a subject. This is the second-level class in the Technician series. Work is performed under general supervision of a director within a department. Position performs the full range of duties under general supervision and is assigned more complex assignments than associated with a Technician I. Position exercises judgment and initiative within general supervision in performing the full range of duties assigned. Impact on students, financial, physical, or personnel resources is department wide.Representative Duties:Perform technical duties and processes to support the ongoing functionalities and processes of designated Department; determine and verify documents; provide upper-level information, assistance, and answer questions pertaining to complex procedures within the Department.Provide technical and detailed guidance and information to students, faculty, administrators, and staff on assigned procedures; review and determine status of procedures and/or forms; refer problems to supervisor for assistance and resolution; notifies students of need for additional information or documentation.Gather information in regard to the analysis of various reports; perform skilled calculations, maintain records and prepare reports within scheduled timelines; disburses information and reports as assigned.Operate computer for record maintenance; verify information; enter, update and maintain changes, and operate other office equipment as required. Type a variety of correspondence and statistical reports; create and maintain files; answers telephones and questions and schedules appointments; operate computer for design and layout of promotional publications, database development and maintenance, charts and spreadsheets, etc.Keep informed of present and pending laws, rules, regulations, and interpretations pertaining to assigned programs in order to apply them to the appropriate situations. Research innovative and evolving technologies, concepts, and trends; project and anticipate viability for use by the assigned Department.Serve on a variety of District committees as requested. Participate in district all staff events including but not limited to all campus team building day, convocation, state of the college address, senior day, and graduation.Fiscal Services Option Class:Responsible for aspects of finance from accounts payable to student accounts receivable and from payroll to the creation of financial documents. Assist in a variety of tasks to accomplish the mission of the Fiscal Services department. Assignments may include items such as accounts payable and receivable, student receivables, assisting with portions of payroll data entry, employee absence tracking, and assisting the director and accountant with pulling reports for monthly reports.Other Duties:Perform related duties as assigned.
