Field Service Engineer – Siemens PLC Specialist (Laser Plastic Welding)
Location: Michigan (Remote travel across North America, greater than 50%)

We are hiring a high-performance Field Service Engineer to support, commission, and maintain our advanced laser plastic welding systems. This role is for someone who thrives in the field, has a deep knowledge of Siemens PLCs, and is disciplined in both mindset and execution. Key Responsibilities
• Commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot laser welding systems onsite
• Program and debug Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal and Step 7
• Fine-tune system parameters including laser power, measurement systems, and process force
• Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase 480V power to low-voltage control systems
• Read and interpret EU electrical and pneumatic schematics
• Perform optical alignments and component-level diagnostics
• Maintain clear documentation and service reports
• Train customers on system usage, safety, and maintenance procedures
• Travel extensively throughout the America’s to customer manufacturing sites
• Provide technical feedback for product and process improvements
Minimum Requirements
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field
• Five or more years of hands-on field experience with Siemens PLC systems
• Proficiency in TIA Portal, Step 7, and related Siemens control software
• Expertise in industrial electrical troubleshooting and control panel wiring
• Familiarity with pneumatics and laser systems (training available for laser-specific handling)
• Valid U.S. passport and driver's license
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in regulated environments such as medical or automotive manufacturing
• Ability to document service activities and contribute to technical writing
• Basic knowledge of optics and laser safety
• Strong personal attributes including self-discipline, integrity, humility, and perseverance
