What a day looks like
Morning in our Chicago showcase. You roll up your sleeves to commission a new 6kW fiber laser, verify accessory integration, and validate safety and quality checkpoints. By midday, you’re debugging a system error for a U.S. customer and documenting the root cause in the work order. Later, you head onsite to complete a scheduled maintenance visit, coach a new teammate one-on-one, and close the day with crisp reporting to stakeholders.
Role overview
As the primary service contact for HSG Tech machinery across the U.S., you’ll install, commission, maintain, and train users on HSG equipment in our Chicago demo center and at customer sites. You’ll report to the U.S. Service Manager, resolve complex technical issues, drive customer satisfaction, deliver monthly preventive maintenance, and promote relevant value-add services. Regular business travel within the U.S. is required.
What you will do
- Lead end-to-end installs and commissioning, ensuring correct accessory setup, service data integrity, and safety compliance.
- Organize work orders, practice safe tool usage, and produce clear customer-facing service reports.
- Complete expense documentation accurately and support customer service evaluations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, and R&D to meet shared goals.
- Deliver on-time installations, commissioning, and maintenance aligned to strict quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and debug system issues; pinpoint root causes and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and participate in company trainings covering technical processes, policies, and technician responsibilities.
- Conduct routine monthly service visits and proactively highlight value-add services.
- Mentor new service hires through one-to-one training and guidance.
What you bring
- 2 years in a related industry (fiber laser experience strongly preferred).
- Hands-on expertise installing, debugging, and maintaining 6kW equipment.
- Ability to read and apply circuit diagrams.
- Familiarity with CAD or SOLIDWORKS.
- Solid grasp of mechanical principles.
- Detail-driven, organized, and deadline-conscious.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable collaborating across matrixed teams.
Compensation and progression
Job level and pay depend on experience. Progression and ranges:
- Service Technician: $30–$36 hourly
- Service Engineer: $36–$45 hourly
- Senior Service Engineer: $45–$55 hourly
