Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on metal trim installations.
- Repair and replace damaged metal trims to ensure structural integrity.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment for metalworking tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure workplace safety.
- Document maintenance activities and report any issues to supervisors.
- Assist in training new employees on metal trim maintenance techniques.
Trade Specific Tasks:
- Restoration & Refinishing: Restore scratched, dented, or oxidized brass fixtures, such as railings, wall panels, doors, and hardware, to a high-quality finish.
- Polishing & Cleaning: Utilize various polishing tools, buffing wheels, and compounds to remove tarnish and restore shine to brass and other decorative metals.
- Surface Preparation: Sand, grind, strip, and clean metal surfaces to prepare them for refinishing or protective coating.
- Repair Work: Remove dents, repair scratches, and replace missing/broken components of decorative trim and hardware.
- Protective Application: Apply lacquers, wax, or protective coatings to prevent future tarnishing and oxidation.
- Perform restoration work on-site at client locations.
- Inspection & Assessment: Inspect brass fixtures to identify the extent of damage and determine the necessary cleaning or repair methods.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metalwork is a plus.
- Proven experience in metal trim maintenance or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of metalworking tools and safety practices.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
