The Center for Social Justice is a center based at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana that provides appellate and post-conviction representation to indigent people on Louisiana’s death row, as well as juveniles sentenced to life without parole. The CSJ Administrator will provide clerical support to attorneys and teams representing clients in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana, with the assistance of students at Loyola.
This position requires strong organizational skills and proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel functions. The CSJ Administrator will also provide periodic litigation support, such as printing and collating documents, proofreading, records collection, database management, non- legal research, and directing incoming client phone calls.Client communication, primarily on the phone
Review and track timesheets
Using Microsoft Excel to document expenses, reimbursements, and hourly billing
Electronic and physical file management and organization
Organizing and handling of files, including at evidentiary hearings in state and federal courts
Compiling pleadings
Handling mail and other correspondence
Provide administrative support for recruiting, hiring, terminating, performance evaluations, and other HR related paperwork submissions.
Travel within state as needed to transport files and related documents
Work weekends as neededMinimum Associates degree or Certification in Paralegal Studies
Minimum of one year of administrative support or paralegal experience
Demonstrated proficiency with basic Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Proficient typing skills
Demonstrated ability to work well with teams.
Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license as a condition of employment, and must also be able to successfully pass any driver background information investigation and any driver education courses required by Risk Management Willingness to work outside of business hours and travel within state to meet caseload demands
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Prior administrative experience with law firm or other agency serving clients with criminal defense cases
