Summary:
Cortes Capital is the Oklahoma City-based private investment office for the Love family. Our vision is to deliver exceptional long-term returns for the Love family while defining the standard for growth focused family offices. Under the direction of the Fund Controller, you will be involved in the entire process of accounting for our investments.
We are unique from many family offices as we focus exclusively on private investing, including private equity, growth equity, and venture capital. Our investment approach is the result of bringing together some of the best practices that we have learned over years in institutional investing. We source broadly, engage in dynamic discussions with general partners and management teams, provide candid feedback, and set realistic expectations. We invest in funds, co-investments, and direct investments, focusing on thematic areas such as software, industrials, life sciences, and more.
We seek the most intellectually curious individuals that are excellent problem solvers. An ability to work independently and collaboratively is a must. A strong understanding of the general ledger is critical.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day accounting and financial statements of the Cortes Capital entities
- Record journal entries related to investment activity, including capital calls, distributions, and quarterly valuation changes
- Set up, process, and record capital calls and distribution notices
- Prepare financial statements and assist with footnotes
- Reconcile various accounts, promptly researching and correcting any variances
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, annual closing cycles
- Assist with quarterly valuation reviews and preparation of quarterly investor update materials
- Assist with gathering and coordinating investment partnership tax documents
Education and Experience:
- Must have excellent academic credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Minimum of at least two years of experience working in an accounting role for a financial services firm, fund administrator, or public accounting firm
- Big 4 experience is a plus
- CPA preferred but not required
- Experience with private equity and fund accounting software is helpful
- Must have proficiency in Microsoft Excel
