About This Position
This position provides physical security at DOTD Headquarters in Baton Rouge, where POST-certified officers are assigned to designated security posts that control access to the facility. Duties include monitoring entry points, verifying and processing visitors, maintaining secure access control, and responding to incidents within their authority. Officers are expected to maintain a visible, professional presence to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and property. The role offers a structured and consistent work environment while still requiring the standards, accountability, and responsibilities of a commissioned peace officer, including adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.
Necessary Special Requirements
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

- Ensure that the applicable rules and regulations are enforced fairly and consistently.
- Ensures that required statistical reports, time and attendance reports, and other required administrative paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Informs the Supervisor of all pertinent information within the region or statewide area as needed. Incumbent maintains records and transmits orders given to him by his supervisor.
- Ensure that Department issued equipment is well maintained and used in a manner consistent with DOTD Police Policy.
- Incumbent conducts and completes investigations as directed and may be assigned as the lead investigator over lower-level agents. Incumbent maintains a working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and practices in effect.
