Civil/Environmental Engineer
(Engineering Associate II, III; Civil Engineer)

Shape the future of clean water.  Join the Sanitation Districts and be part of a team making a real difference for 5.6 million people across Los Angeles County. Our 24 independent districts work together under a Joint Administration Agreement to deliver essential wastewater and solid waste services efficiently and effectively.

With over 1,800 employees, including more than 200 engineers, you’ll play a key role in operating and maintaining a vast network that keeps the Districts critical services flowing. With 1,400 miles of sewers and 49 pumping plants, 11 wastewater treatment plants, 2 landfills, 2 energy recovery facilities, and 2 materials recovery/transfer facilities, your work will protect public health, safeguard the environment, and shape a sustainable future.

If you’re ready to tackle big challenges, collaborate with diverse teams, and see the results of your work every day, the Sanitation Districts offer an opportunity to make it happen.

In this role, you will perform engineering work supporting wastewater and/or solid waste management programs. The Districts does most engineering work in-house, and we are looking to fill positions in design, energy recovery, stormwater management, operations, water and air quality, planning, construction, and source control.

As an Engineer, you have the opportunity to be involved in every phase of our work, from project conception to operation. Since most engineering work is performed in-house, you have the opportunity to see your projects through from start to finish.

Applicants with these qualifications will receive first consideration in the selection process.

Only the most qualified candidates demonstrating the desirable combination of education and experience will be invited to participate in the selection process.

Note: Master's degree students can apply before their master's degree has been completed as long as they will have their master's degree conferred on or before September 30, 2026.
