The Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking an experienced strategic fiscal expert who is equally passionate about operational excellence and mentoring fiscal leaders to serve as the Executive Director, External Business Services and Oversight.
The Executive Director, External Business Services and Oversight directs the activities of the Business Advisory Services Division; provides mandated and discretionary business and financial services to school and community college districts and other local education agencies (LEAs) within Los Angeles County; serves as a primary policy and administrative resource regarding school business, finance legislation, and financial compliance, ensuring the fiscal integrity, stability, and solvency of educational agencies under the responsibility of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE).
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge
Experience: Seven years of experience providing fiscal and business management for a school district or county office of education, including three years of supervisory experience directing a financial or business operational unit.
Equivalency Provision: A master’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, may substitute on a year-to-year basis for up to two years of the required general experience.
Additional Requirements: A master's degree with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field is preferred. A valid driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a technical interview.
