Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Data Center Technician with strong hands-on experience in server hardware, wiring, and physical installations. If you enjoy solving problems, working directly with cutting-edge technology, and making an impact at customer sites, this role is for you. This position requires regular heavy lifting and hands-on work inside data-center environments.
What You’ll Do
As an on-site Engineer, you will support enterprise Dell equipment through installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. Daily responsibilities include:
- Performing hardware diagnosis and triage in coordination with Dell Support
- Executing Plans of Action (POA) from Dell Domain Engineers / L3 Support
- Documenting work performed, logs, parts used (including PPID), and POA results
- Reseating, swapping, and replacing server components
- Running server diagnostics, validating repairs, and uploading logs
- Completing firmware upgrades as needed
- Managing parts lockers, inbound/outbound inventory, and spare components
- Handling parts returns and maintaining accurate documentation
What Makes You a Great Fit
- High School Diploma or GED required (technical certifications or an Associate Degree preferred)
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience working with server hardware
- Strong foundation in server components: CPUs, memory, power supplies, GPUs, system builds
- Experience with server swaps, deployments, and component replacements
- Familiarity with Linux environments
- Experience building PCs and following structured POAs
- Ability to stay current with technology through continuous learning
- Comfortable with the physical demands of server work (including heavy lifting)
- Bonus: Experience with water-cooled servers
