What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller (4155) position at LONGVIEW BANK?
The Controller will oversee the Bank’s daily accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and general ledger integrity. You’ll ensure accurate, timely, and regulatory-compliant financial reporting while providing actionable insights to support executive decision-making.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the CFO to strengthen internal controls, maintain audit and regulatory readiness, and build a deep understanding of the Bank’s financial operations — all in preparation to step into the CFO role.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Reporting:

Oversee daily accounting operations and general ledger maintenance

Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations

Assist with preparation of regulatory reports, including Call Reports

Support budgeting and forecasting processes

Monitor income and expense trends and report variances
Internal Controls and Compliance:

Maintain strong internal control structure over financial reporting

Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles

Assist with development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures

Support internal and external audits
-
Coordinate documentation requests during regulatory examinations

Monitor segregation of duties and financial risk controls
Reconciliations and Oversight:

Oversee reconciliation of correspondent bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and investment accounts

Review suspense and exception accounts
-
Ensure timely resolution of discrepancies

Monitor fixed assets and depreciation schedules
Leadership and Supervision:

Support cross-departmental collaboration

Assist executive leadership with financial analysis and strategic initiatives
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday and rotating Saturday mornings. Will train with the CFO in Georgetown, IL until her retirement. Office location may be flexible after training period.

Qualifications:Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

CPA designation preferred
Experience:

Five or more years of progressive accounting experience

Experience in a regulated financial institution strongly preferred

Experience with regulatory reporting required

Prior supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
