Responsibilities

• Operate laundry equipment to wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, uniforms, and patient clothing according to established protocols.
• Follow safety protocols for handling chemical agents used in cleaning and laundry processes to ensure a safe environment for yourself and others.
• Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and hallways using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Handle cleaning chemicals with care, adhering to OSHA standards and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or contamination.
• Assist with manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy linen carts or equipment safely using proper lifting techniques.
• Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control procedures.
• Support environmental services efforts by ensuring floors are properly cared for through sweeping, mopping, buffing, or stripping as needed.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through courteous customer service when interacting with staff or visitors requiring assistance or information.

Skills

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safety procedures, and workplace hazard prevention.
• Experience with healthcare facilities housekeeping, janitorial duties, or hospital environment sanitation.
• Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and laundry machines.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices to prevent injury.
• Familiarity with infection control standards specific to healthcare settings and environmental services best practices.
• Strong attention to detail in cleaning routines and sanitation tasks to ensure compliance with health standards.
• Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude when engaging with patients, staff, or visitors.
