Job Summary

Job Type: Full-Time

Wage: Up to $52,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Schedule: Five days per week, weekends preferred, occasional evenings

Work Location: Jackson County or greater Rogue Valley, Oregon, with frequent field site visits

Education & Experience: 2 years of experience in community outreach, community health, education, human

services, community organizing, workforce development, or a related field. Strong written and verbal

communication skills in Spanish, the ability to work independently, and flexibility to work occasional evenings

and weekends are required. Candidates must reside in or have strong ties to the Rogue Valley, possess a valid

driver's license and reliable transportation, and be willing to travel throughout southern Oregon and complete

Community Health Worker and other required trainings. Preferred qualifications include bilingual and bicultural

fluency in English and Spanish, experience as a Promotor/a de Salud or Community Health Worker, lived

experience within the Latine/Hispanic community, proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration

tools, a background in social justice and community engagement and/or familiarity with agriculture, forestry,

and fire management issues in the western U.S.

Overview

Lomakatsi Restoration Project is seeking a Promotor/a de Salud to join the Promotor/a Program team in the

Rogue Valley. The Promotor/a de Salud serves as a trusted community resource and liaison between forest

workers, their families, and organizations that provide health, safety, educational, and social services. Through

culturally responsive outreach, education, advocacy, and relationship-building, the Promotor/a supports

healthier workplaces and stronger communities.

Position Summary

The Promotor/a de Salud works collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Promotor/a Program Manager,

and other staff, project partners, and volunteers on identifying topics forest workers and their family members

consider priorities; developing culturally and linguistically sensitive educational materials on these topics;

developing appropriate outreach and teaching methods; and conducting outreach and education among forest

workers and their family members. From time to time, the position may also require gathering data on working

conditions by conducting field interviews with forest workers, administering questionnaires, or using other data

gathering methods. The employee will be expected to maintain professional relationships with community

organizations, advocacy groups, and health clinics for the purpose of referring workers to them when

appropriate.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Education (40%)

• Conduct outreach to forest workers and their communities to raise awareness of the program and its

benefits.

• Build trusting, long-term relationships with forest workers and their families.

• Facilitate individual and group sessions on occupational health, injury prevention, workers’ rights, disaster

preparedness, and accessing support services.

• Attend and support community events, including tabling and resource fairs.

Program Support & Collaboration (30%)

• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.

• Work closely with the Promotor/a Program Coordinator, Executive Director, project partners, and

volunteers.

• Gather community input on priority issues and topics for educational programming.

• Assist with developing culturally and linguistically appropriate educational materials and trainings.

• Assist in recruiting workers to participate in meetings and workshops.

Referral & Resource Navigation (15%)

• Help workers navigate healthcare, legal, housing, food, education, and social service systems.

• Build and maintain professional relationships with local community organizations, health clinics, and

advocacy groups.

• Refer workers to appropriate services and resources as needed.

• Follow up with workers after referrals to ensure they successfully access services.

Data Collection & Documentation (15%)

• Assist with community needs assessments, surveys, interviews, and other program evaluation activities.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of worker interactions and program activities.

Other duties as assigned

Note: This position is funded by an obligated 2-year federal grant after which it will be dependent upon securing

additional funding.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in community outreach, community health, education, human services, community

organizing, workforce development, or related work.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Must be a Rogue Valley Resident or have strong ties in the region.

• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout southern Oregon.

• Willing to complete Community Health Worker training and other training as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual and bicultural, with fluency in English and Spanish.

• Valid Community Health Worker certification.

• Experience as a Promotor/a de Salud, Community Health Worker, or related experience.

• Lived experience as part of the Latine/Hispanic community.

• Proficiency with MS Office, email, video conferencing, and collaborative tools.

• Background in social justice work and experience engaging with diverse communities.

• Familiarity with agriculture, forestry, and fire management issues in the western U.S.
