Loloi Rugs is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to lead the financial operations of our growing B2B (Loloi Rugs) and D2C organization (Joon Loloi). This role will oversee accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, support business planning, and help drive operational efficiency across multiple revenue channels, including wholesale, retail, and e-commerce. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of inventory accounting, payroll accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS), and the financial nuances of both direct-to-consumer and business-to-business models.
This leader will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, and department heads to ensure the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization. This person will oversee the Finance, Accounting, and Payroll teams, leading and mentoring a high-performing department. They will implement scalable financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and support the continued growth of both Loloi Rugs and Joon Loloi.
This role reports directly to the CFO and is based onsite 5 days a week at our headquarters in Farmers Branch.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, inventory, payroll, and tax compliance
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with a focus on timely and accurate reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial reporting
- Prepare financial statements and management reports with insights into key drivers, trends, and variances across B2B and D2C segments
- Manage financial controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Partner with operations, sales, and marketing teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and margin analyses
- Analyze COGS, gross margin performance, and inventory valuation to support pricing and supply chain decisions
- Monitor cash flow and working capital across various sales channels
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the main point of contact for external auditors
- Lead implementation and optimization of financial systems and ERP tools
- Hire, train, and manage AP, Payroll, and AR team members as needed
Experience, Skills, & Ability Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a B2B and/or D2C environment
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition, inventory, and cost accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting systems and software
- Experience working in e-commerce, wholesale, or multi-channel retail businesses a strong plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Clear communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
