Qualified candidates for this position must have a minimum of 5 years of
experience in the commercial and residential Audio Video Industry. The
following are the primary responsibilities, qualifications, and skills for the
position.
Scope
of Responsibilities:
The purpose behind the Field Engineer position is to verify that
the intent of the design has been met and that all technical and functional
aspects of the system have been tested and measured against objective and
subjective benchmarks. This includes:
· Verification of
the of the system components presence and operation. During this process all components are
identified as being provided and operating at or above their specifications per
the design intent.
· Optimization of the system’s overall functionality and quality. This includes video and audio calibration and fine tuning, and
control system and environmental system operation.
A commissioning report will be produced that details the problems
and identifies any punch list items still outstanding, and if they will be
addressed at a later date a new agreement should be drawn up covering the
future work.
Typical Duties of our Field Engineer:
Step
One: Perform Preliminary Tests on the Completed System Installation.
The preliminary checkout and alignment to include a wide variety
of tasks including but not limited to:
- Calibrate microphones and audio for
teleconference and videoconference systems
- Provision and full test of dedicated
videoconference systems
- Setup and commission of Room Scheduling
Panel/SIP/POTS (Crestron Mercury, QSC, BiAmp etc)
- Firmware updates for control systems,
network, DSP, etc
- Modify and adjust control program, User
Interface and DSP design on field
- Advanced DSP design for various types commercial
audio systems
- Setup and adjust gain structure for
optimal performance of audio systems
- Advanced setup of network switch for
commercial AV
- Troubleshoot physical and software issues
- Client/Vendor/IT coordination for room
schedulers, networked AV, remote access, wireless presentation, etc
· Verification
that all equipment (provided by Logic Integration Inc or OFE) has been
delivered and installed per specification, and that a list of equipment,
complete with Model and Serial Numbers, has been documented and is available
· Verification
that other trades or teams have completed the work associated with the proper
functioning of the AV system.
· Confirmation
that communications and Networking services are installed and working.
(Ethernet IP addressing, telephone interfaces, VTC interfaces etc.)
· Testing
of signal paths for all Audio and Video systems.
· Programming
and testing of conferencing systems, including verification of IP addressing
and SIP addressing.
· Verification
and completion of project commissioning check-lists
· Testing
of wireless microphones, including confirmation of transmitter/receiver
frequencies, channels, range and charging of batteries
· Testing
and alignment of video monitors and projectors for good image reproduction from
all potential sources
Step
Two: Generate the Punch-list
· Poor
AV terminations
· Damaged
Wiring
· Workmanship
issues with equipment installation or aesthetic components of the work such as
damaged wall finishes, undesirable cable management, or other problems that are
visually objectionable
· Physical
installation issues such as projector positioning, loudspeaker locations and
alignment and integration of devices into furniture
· Delays
in delivery of AV equipment
· AV
equipment failures
· Slow
delivery or non-delivery of goods by non-AV providers, e.g. millwork,
electrical, and other contractors
· Slow
or non-delivery of OFE or communications and network services
· Incomplete
items such as wall plates or terminations.
Step
Three: Establish Substantial Completion
· The
preliminary tests have been completed. This should include the results of the preliminary tests, any exceptions
to be addressed and the anticipated resolution. If not previously reported, any shop test results should also be
included.
· The
system installation is complete per the contract (including Change Orders)
pending final commissioning. Any punch
list items have been developed to date should also be included.
· The
system is ready for testing and alignment

Four: Inspect, Test, and Align
· Facility

system for final code uploads and programming.

Five: Train the Users
· Teaches
end users how to use the system
· Improves
confidence in the end user when using the system
· Reduces
service calls resulting from “User Error”
· Reduces
chance of improper use and subsequent damage of systems
· Enables
in-house personnel to perform basic troubleshooting, possibly preventing lost
use of systems, and orients them when receiving remote assistance.

Requirements
Qualifications:
The
following skills and abilities are essential for placement within Logic
Integration.
· Technical
Ability Required: minimum Tech level 2. Level 3 ideal for position
· Minimum
of 4 years AV systems field experience
· Project
Management experience is a plus
· Clean
driving record Able to pass a simple background check and drug test
· High
School Diploma or Equivalent
· Must
be authorized to work full time in the United States
· Provide
normal hand tools according to list of required tools
Additional
Skills and Abilities:
Applicant
must be able to safely lift equipment weighing as much as 80 lbs. regularly.
Able to work comfortably on ladders, lifts and in high places as well as in
tight conditions such as crawl spaces, equipment closets, and cabinets. Must be
able to perform all tasks associated with the installation of Commercial Audio
and Video Equipment
· ICIA CTS or CTS-I a plus
· Some of the Brands
heavily used: Crestron, Control 4, QSC, Bi-Amp, ClickShare, Araknis, Pakedge,
Luxal, Mersive, RGB Spectrum, Samsung, T1V Video Systems, Panamax, IC-
Realtime, WattBox, Sonance, Sony, Apple,
IP Cameras and NVR’s, or other manufacturer training a plus.
