Position Summary
The Head Cashier is responsible for supporting the Front End Manager in overseeing daily front-end operations. This role ensures exceptional customer service, efficient checkout flow, and proper execution of company standards. The Head Cashier leads by example, supervises cashiers and front-end staff, and helps create a welcoming, organized, and high-performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience
- Deliver and model outstanding customer service at all times
- Greet and engage every customer with a friendly and professional attitude
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and effectively
- Ensure every customer leaves with a positive final impression
Front-End Operations
- Supervise daily cashier operations and front-end workflow
- Maintain smooth traffic flow at registers, minimizing wait times
- Open and close registers as needed
- Monitor and enforce proper cash handling procedures
- Assist with register overrides, returns, and price checks
Team Leadership
- Act as the point person in the absence of the Front End Manager
- Train, coach, and support cashiers and front-end team members
- Reinforce company standards, policies, and expectations
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment
- Assist in onboarding new hires
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the front end
- Enforce dress code and professionalism standards
- Support loss prevention and safety practices
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling and break management
- Help monitor attendance and punctuality
- Communicate effectively with management regarding team performance and issues
- Support execution of promotions, signage, and front-end merchandising
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or retail experience required
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed
- Frequent walking, bending, and reaching
