What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of Students with Disabilities (MD Classroom) position at Livingston Public Schools?
Livingston Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Teacher of Students with Disabilities in a multiply disabled classroom. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering highly structured, individualized instruction aligned to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. This role requires expertise in working with students with multiple disabilities and the ability to implement evidence-based instructional strategies, including small group differentiated instruction and discrete trial instruction.
The teacher will systematically collect, analyze, and utilize student performance data to inform instructional decisions, monitor progress, and adjust teaching strategies to maximize student outcomes. The position also requires familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and the ability to integrate communication supports into daily instruction.
The teacher is responsible for supporting students with behavioral needs through the consistent implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and the use of proactive, positive behavior supports.
Collaboration is a critical component of this role. The teacher will work closely with colleagues, Child Study Team members, related service providers, and paraprofessionals to ensure cohesive program implementation. The position also requires ongoing, effective communication with families regarding student progress, needs, and program updates.
Additionally, the teacher will actively participate in IEP development, progress monitoring, and all required team meetings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and to support student success.
Compensation and Benefits
