Role Overview:
Responsible for performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, and analyzing data for diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, ensure patient identification and preparation, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to maximize patient safety and care quality.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, and evaluate images for quality and proper positioning.
- Verify data storage and transfer, and perform post-processing if applicable.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and assist licensed practitioners in fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
- Perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures outside the radiology department, such as in operating rooms or ICUs.
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps to advance to level 2 within 24 months.
