All Maintenance and Custodial Positions

Description of duties, responsibilities, job related functions and physical requirements.

Duties to include but not limited to items and duties related to building cleaning and maintenance practices and procedures such as:

• Maintain School and all areas of the School in a safe, clean, healthy manner for students, staff and visitors.

• Dust and clean all furniture, surfaces, floors, desks, stairs, as needed.
• Maintain bathrooms in a clean, sanitary manner, including toilets, urinals, floors, walls, sinks.
• Re-supply and re-stock all paper products in all bathrooms and kitchen as needed.
• Sweep, wet mop, dry floors in all areas, including hallways, stairs, classrooms, as needed.
• Vacuum and keep clean any and all carpeted areas and surfaces in the building.
• Empty trash receptacles daily or as needed, including washing of trash receptacles as needed.
• Wash and keep all window surfaces clean as needed.
• Strip and wax floors, buff and burnish floors using the appropriate hand and power equipment.
• Move and set up classroom furniture, chairs, desks, etc.
• Help unload supply trucks of paper boxes, or food supplies, or other school related materials, which may weigh up to 25 or 30 pounds from a tractor trailer floor height.
• Set up and move gym bleachers using the proper power equipment as supplied on the bleacher units.
• Ability to use a ladder up to 12 feet high
• Able to use a mechanically operated lift, such as a scissors lift and the ability to go to heights as high as 25 feet to service gym areas and ceiling lights or other areas of the building.
• Ability to climb ladders, such as roof access ladder, step ladders, etc.
• Ability to use cleaning chemicals and agents, disinfecting solutions, and other chemicals used throughout the school.
• Must be willing and able to come in during early morning hours to help do snow removal duties.
• Other duties, assignments or projects as assigned by Principal, Supervisor or other School

Officials.

Must also show and demonstrate:

• Ability to understand verbal instructions.

• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

• Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.

• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

• Ability to understand English written and verbal communications.

Conditions of Employment

• Must pass a SAFIS background check. CORI*

• Successful candidate must submit to physical examination*

and medical history check.

Physical Requirements of Custodial and Maintenance Positions:

Must take and Pass Physical at our facility of choice.

• Must have the ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pound bags of salt, sand, paper boxes, etc.
• Set up and move classroom student and teacher furniture, stacking chairs, folding chairs, file cabinets, etc.
• Able to lift and handle 5 gallon buckets of floor care supplies.
• Ability to use equipment such as floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, large snow thrower machines which weight in excess of 250 pounds.
• Pulling and Pushing of heavy equipment and machinery.
• Ability and dexterity to use small power hand tools, electric drills, etc, as well as hand tools, screw drivers, hammers, pliers, etc.
• Ability to manually shovel snow, clear snow from walkways, stairs, door entrances, etc.
• Ability to load salt spreader machines from 50 pound bags of salt, push and use spreaders on outside walkways during cold winter months and freezing temperatures.
• Ability to stand and move for long periods of time.
