What are the responsibilities and job description for the Router/Dispatcher position at Littleton Public Schools?
- Develop and maintain bus routes for regular and special education students by preparing directions, maps and any information needed to best assist drivers and paraprofessionals in meeting needs of transporting students; working with drivers and city/county to verify road conditions; and having new routes driven prior to implementation.
- Coordinate transportation for students attending out-of-district schools or special programs or activities by determining the most cost-effective means of transportation.
- Assign drivers to routes and field trips.
- Assist with the management of the transportation department by compiling reports, maintaining department records and files, developing statistics for analysis and assisting with interviewing and evaluating potential employees.
- Prepare routes for bid by coordinating bus drivers and paraprofessionals coverage, evaluating times for each route, calculating weekly time match-up of paraprofessional and driver to best meet needs of students and coordinating any special assignments which would coincide with routes.
- Using department field trip scheduling and billing software, coordinate field trip requests including estimating costs, assigning buses and drivers, verifying dates and times with drivers and schools, maintaining proper documentation, overseeing the bid process, and providing paperwork to the driver.
- Assist the office manager in calculating and billing field trips; answer the phone and speak with parents, district personnel, and citizens to handle complaints and direct questions to the appropriate staff member.
- Assigns substitute or standby drivers to cover routes and field trips.
- Communicate with bus drivers and district personnel using a two-way radio.
- Assist with addressing and resolving departmental issues by coordinating communication between the transportation department, parents, students, building administrators, and district personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- 2 years of experience in school transportation
- Routing software experience preferred

Position Purpose:
