What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Literacy Instructor position at Literacy Delaware?
Overall Description of Service:
Adult Literacy Instructor will provide direct tutoring support to adult learners throughout the state of Delaware. Duties include but are not limited to developing lesson plans, conducting small group tutoring sessions, and facilitating small class instruction. Positions are available in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties. This could be a great opportunity for a recent retiree or high school/college graduate. This position requires both remote and in-person work. This is a position available through AmeriCorps.
Position Description:
· Conduct initial learner assessments and benchmark learners
· Prepare and facilitate lesson plans tailored to learner needs and goals
· Coach and instruct learners in small groups
· Assist adult learners in setting and meeting their goals
· Collaborate with and maintain relationships with community partners and local libraries
· Support the tracking and reporting of data
· Assist with learner and volunteer recruitment, recognition, and engagement
· Support outreach and recruitment efforts

Believing that literacy is the great equalizer, Literacy Delaware advances literacy through training, tutoring, English language acquisition, and advocacy for all Delawareans. For nearly 40 years, Literacy Delaware has trained volunteers to tutor adults with low literacy or English language skills.

Pay: $8,300.00 - $11,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 15 – 22 per week
