This leader will oversee day‑to‑day manufacturing activities, ensuring production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with stringent quality and regulatory requirements. Position Summary The Senior Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of skilled machinists, operators, and technicians in a CNC‑intensive, precision machining environment. This role ensures that daily production objectives are met, equipment is effectively utilized, and processes remain stable and well‑controlled. Success requires strong leadership, deep operational understanding, and the ability to manage a dynamic workflow while maintaining tight tolerances, consistent part quality, and operational discipline. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Resource Allocation Direct, coordinate, and optimize the deployment of employees across multi‑axis CNC, Swiss‑turn, and other precision machining centers based on customer demand and real-time production needs. Serve as the primary liaison between operational leadership and shop-floor teams, ensuring clear communication of daily objectives, shifts in priorities, and machine utilization strategies. Maintain visibility into work order flow, machine availability, tooling readiness, and constraints that impact throughput and OEE. Production Execution & Technical Oversight Oversee day‑to‑day machining operations to ensure stable processes, consistent part quality, and adherence to tight tolerance requirements typical of medical device components. Support troubleshooting and escalation for machining issues, deviations, tool failures, quality defects, and equipment performance concerns. Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to implement corrective actions, reduce scrap, and maintain process capability. Performance Management & Reporting Monitor and report key performance indicators—including OEE, cycle‑time adherence, scrap, rework, first‑pass yield, and labor utilization—to senior leadership. Ensure operational strategies and annual objectives for the Precision Machining Factory are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Workforce Development & Staffing Develop and maintain staffing plans that build and sustain a highly skilled, flexible, and cross‑trained machining workforce. Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations; participate in hiring, promotions, corrective actions, and, when necessary, terminations. Provide situational leadership to a diverse team with varying levels of machining expertise and technical capability. Continuous Improvement & Process Stability Identify and implement process improvements to reduce variation, minimize downtime, improve part quality, and optimize machine performance. Champion lean initiatives, 5S, standard work, and data‑driven problem solving (e.g., SPC, root cause analysis, DMAIC). Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to drive long‑term capability improvements across the machining value stream. Safety, Compliance & Quality Maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring full adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies and by proactively identifying and mitigating risks. Uphold all quality standards, documentation practices, and regulatory requirements associated with medical device manufacturing. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory or managerial role, OR a minimum of 6 years of related management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a precision machining environment, with CNC multi‑axis, Mills, Lathes, Swiss turning, or high‑tolerance machining processes. Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast‑paced production setting with measurable performance expectations. Strongly Preferred Experience in the medical device industry or in other regulated, high‑precision manufacturing sectors.
