JOB Summary: 

Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) for a 13-week contract with a quick start and an all-inclusive rate of $60/hour. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience, an active Iowa license, ASCP certification or equivalent, and qualifying education. Shifts may rotate, with laboratory hours Monday-Friday, 6 AM-6 PM, and weekends 6 AM-12 PM. Weekend call is required, with on-call coverage during other hours at $2/hour. The facility uses CPSI/Evident EMR. There are no guaranteed hours, overtime premium, holiday pay, or mileage reimbursement.

Shift Details

• Laboratory hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM

• Saturday and Sunday: 6:00 AM-12:00 PM

• Shifts may rotate as needed.

• Weekend call is required, with on-call coverage during all other hours.

• On-call pager rate: $2/hour

• Call-back minimum: 1 hour

Job Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret clinical laboratory tests accurately.

• Report and document test results promptly.

• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.

• Perform quality control and quality assurance activities.

• Follow laboratory safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

• Maintain accurate documentation and current professional competencies.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience.

• Active state license required for the state where the facility is located.

• ASCP certification or equivalent required.

• Must meet the applicable educational requirements through an accredited medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological science, chemical science, or medical laboratory technology program.
