Akron, OH metro; Hybrid (field-based) with heavy travel (50–80% nationwide); base/showroom in Stow. Candidate search zone: Prioritize Summit County and adjacent Portage Cuyahoga suburbs — Akron; Cuyahoga Falls; Kent; Hudson; Tallmadge; Munroe Falls; Streetsboro; Twinsburg; Ravenna; Macedonia; Barberton; and southern Cleveland suburbs (practical sourcing counties: Summit, Portage, northern Stark/Cuyahoga fringe). Commute to worksite: Primary target 30–60 minutes one-way driving (roughly 15–45 miles depending on route); up to ~90 minutes acceptable for hybrid/field candidates who travel frequently.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to provide technical support for high-precision injection molding machines. They will be a primary technical resource for our clients and support our Sales Team through machine installations, project developments, and performance improvements. They must have an extensive hands-on experience in the plastics and mold industry and is comfortable serving as a technical liaison between domestic operations and international OEM locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all technical aspects of injection molding machine operations at diverse customer sites nationwide.
- Perform expert-level machine installations, start-ups, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Conduct in-depth on-site trials and troubleshooting to resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Provide comprehensive technical training to customers, field sales agents, and internal personnel.
- Manage MS Dynamics 365 CRM data entry to track service history and customer interactions.
- Serve as a strategic liaison between the US team and international OEM locations in China, Europe, and India.
- Support business growth through product design evaluation, qualification activities, and technical feedback.
- Assist in the oversight of inventory management and the growth of the spare parts business.
- Manage showroom activities, including high-level technical presentations for prospective clients.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of machine manuals and technical documentation.
- Handle the purchasing and selling of spare parts while promoting newly developed technologies.
- Maintain detailed product reference lists for field use and internal technical support.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3 years in the injection molding industry (Technical/Field Service preferred)
- Deep knowledge of plastics manufacturing and high-precision machinery
- Ability to travel 50–80% across the country (Vehicle use with compensation)
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Dynamics 365 is a plus
- Strong oral and written skills for technical training and client presentations
- Minimum 40 hours per week (Year-round work).
- Monday to Friday (5x8 schedule); Overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Primary work is performed \"on the road\" at various customer facilities.
