TEACHER OF REGULAR EDUCATION (PK-8) –Long Term Care and Treatment

Classification:  Licensed – 190 day calendar

Reports to:  Long Term Care and Treatment Principal

FSLA Status: Exempt

 

POSITION OVERVIEW


Teaching is rewarding work.  Teaching students with social, emotional, behavioral issues and mental health needs is one of most fulfilling teaching experiences possible.  This position is integrated into a tight-knit community of educators dedicated to supporting some of our most vulnerable students and families.  Being a part of this team can change your perspective on teaching, provide experiences that are unique and challenging, and offer ongoing learning and growth. Our program has unique qualities as a school as it provides a protected environment in which students receive their schooling while protecting the health and safety of themselves and/or others while receiving necessary treatment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
 

1.       Valid Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) teaching license with Elementary- Multiple Subjects Endorsement is required for PK-12 grade levels.

2.       Special Education endorsement preferred.

3.       Successful experience directly related to the specific teaching assignment.

4.       Effective oral and written communication skills.

5.       Knowledge and understanding of the mental health needs of youth.  

6.       Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may field appropriate and acceptable.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

2.       Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.

3.       Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA.

4.       Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.

5.       Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.

6.       Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.

7.       Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.

8.       Maintain regular attendance at work.  Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.

9.       Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.

10.    Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.

11.    Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.

12.    Ability to safely maneuver self and others in an unpredictable environment.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, and duties associated with this position.  The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time it’s deemed necessary.

 

1.       Assess student knowledge, skills, performance, behavior and attendance and track appropriately.

2.       Determine education needs of individual students and provide relevant instruction. Prepare lesson plans providing appropriate learning activities and strategies for all students.

3.       Develop an appropriate curriculum adhering to the Oregon Education Act for the 21st Century benchmarks and guidelines.

4.       Record and report data according to established policy and state standards.

5.       Use appropriate educational principles while working with students in the area of students’ interpersonal relationships.

6.       Cooperate with the Trillium campus model regarding service delivery per the expectations of a secured,  controlled, and locked environment.

7.       Implement behavior supports and plans based on the student’s established treatment program and in cooperation with Trillium staff.

8.       Develop and maintain program and course goals/learning objectives.

9.       Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) and team meetings as assigned.

10.    Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the defined needs of identified students.

11.    Evaluate and report student progress in relation to IEP and other state measurement guides.

12.    Assess student performance and utilize the results to develop educational plans.

13.    Modify and accommodate instruction for students with special needs.

 

SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION

  • Licensed employees are represented by Linn Benton Lincoln Education Association
  • Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
  • Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
  • Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
  • Employer paid PERS, holidays, sick leave and personal days are also provided
  • Employer paid Life Insurance 1 x annual salary
  • Employer paid Basic AD&D and Long Term Disability
