What are the responsibilities and job description for the [POOL] Instructional Aide 3 position at Linn-Benton Community College?
This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for “[POOL]” positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. Proctors and administers a variety of tests, schedules appointments for testing. Provides clerical, computer, and other support services to students with disabilities and staff.
Essential Duties:
- Provides assistance and services to students when appropriate, such as proctoring tests, taking dictation or word processing (reading and/or scribing).
- Coordinates schedules for student testing and ensures documented accommodations are provided as requested. Assists students with placement exams.
- Prepares instructional and testing materials by scanning, copying, and/or formatting.
- Assists students on computers in using various forms of assistive technology.
- Assists individuals or small groups of students with understanding procedures for using disability services and accommodations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to accomplish the objectives of the position.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Requires the desire and commitment to work with students with physical and learning disabilities.
- Must have operational knowledge of general office equipment including personal computers.
- Working knowledge of assistive technology is preferred.
Abilities:
- Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to respectfully communicate and work with diverse individuals.
- Requires ability to understand the needs and differences of students, and appropriately respond to those needs.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of one year full-time experience in a work or educational setting involving mentoring activities and/or set up/support of learning experiences.
- Completion of college course work or a degree is preferred.
Physical Skills and Abilities:
- May require hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Requires good visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters.
- Requires good hearing and well-developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and students.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed indoors with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards.
- Considerable time is spent doing work at a computer and standing or leaning.
