Job Summary:
Linfield University is seeking a full-time Hospitality, Tasting Room, and Wine Club Manager responsible for the day-to-day sales of wines from multiple local wineries, as well as the operation of the tasting room, wine club, and direct-to-consumer sales in McMinnville, OR.
This position is responsible for all facets of both the customer and student experience, directing and encouraging student employees in all business processes. The role includes store management, person-to-person sales, wine club development, customer and student education, and maintenance of the tasting room and its operations.
Work Schedule:
Estimated work schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, with hours of 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Flexibility is required to accommodate event and engagement responsibilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all day-to-day operations of the Acorn to Oak Wine Experience in McMinnville, OR. This includes sales, customer service, food and wine service, janitorial operations, point-of-sale operations, and supervising the student tasting room staff.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly inventory tracking and management for all aspects of the business, including the warehouse and general upkeep of shelves and grounds.
- Generate and monitor daily sales, visitor counts, and revenue per capita. Provide monthly and projected sales reports, and reconcile and post daily sales logistics into winery software. Demonstrate expertise with QuickBooks, Commerce7, or similar systems to provide budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial analysis.
- Assist in developing and implementing a Wine Club with quarterly or semiannual shipments for pre-enrolled members.
- Set up and execute an event calendar for public and private events for businesses and preferred customers in coordination with Linfield University.
- Collaborate with Linfield’s Wine Program to develop and execute strategies to increase sales, brand awareness, and promote the tasting room and wine club membership through events and marketing campaigns.
- Provide direction and communication with students and staff. Work with students on pricing, inventory management, food offerings, and merchandise sales. Collaborate with participating academic departments—including but not limited to Art, Music, English, and Accounting—to ensure engagement in the learning lab experience.
- Execute wine club releases in coordination with wineries and customers.
- Execute social media campaigns targeting current and prospective wine club members and partner organizations in coordination with Linfield’s Wine Program social media efforts.
Required License/Certification:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record to become/remain certified to operate Linfield vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to obtain an OLCC server’s permit within 60 days of hire.
Preferred License/Certification:
- WSET and/or CMS certifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two or more years of experience working in the wine or hospitality industry preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels—including students, staff, faculty, customers, and vendors—while maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations
- Knowledge of the Oregon wine industry
