Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized vehicles on long-distance routes
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and fuel efficiency
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards during all phases of transit
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, including logistics cargo handling for various freight types
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Skilled in operating different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and safety protocols
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems efficiently across diverse routes
- Experience with load & unload procedures including truck loading/unloading and freight handling
- Proficiency in manual transmission driving and manual handling techniques for cargo management
- Strong understanding of route planning to ensure timely deliveries while maintaining safety standards
