We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, individualized care across the entire surgical continuum.
Hours: Full time, 80 hours per pay period (2 weeks), 4 ten hour shifts per week.
The Role
As a Surgery Center RN, you will manage the patient experience through the preoperative and postoperative phases. You will serve as a critical advocate for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, ensuring safety, dignity, and clinical precision at every step.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Excellence: Perform comprehensive assessments (physical and emotional) and implement nursing interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
- Pre-Op Preparation: Lead patient intake, including chart reviews (H&P, labs, consents), verifying surgical sites, and administering pre-operative instructions.
- Post-Op Recovery: Manage airway maintenance, stabilize vital signs, and ensure a safe emergence from anesthesia. Proactively manage pain and nausea.
- Patient Advocacy: Educate patients and families on what to expect throughout the surgical journey; ensure all privacy and confidentiality rights are respected.
- Coordination: Collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons to review health histories and physician orders to ensure seamless surgical flow.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure: Active Nebraska RN license (or a Compact State license with the intent to declare NE as the primary state of residence within 30 days).
Certifications:
- Current BLS required at time of hire.
- ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Skills: Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a "patient-first" mentality.
