The Chef sets the tone for the kitchen staff, demonstrating techniques and coaching performance. This person will lead their team in creating an accurate and efficient food-service environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership to and daily management of the kitchen
- Holding staff accountable for recipes made to spec, every time
- Making sure employees are well trained and knowledgeable concerning the menu, processes, policies, and systems of the restaurant
- Developing and documenting kitchen standards and processes
- Training staff on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques
- Fostering an exciting and inclusive environment for the kitchen staff
- Managing inventory, placing orders, and minimizing waste
- Ensuring all equipment and systems are in proper working order, keeping proper sanitation and cleanliness
- Leading by example; prepping, cooking, and plating
- Maintaining a compliant and safe environment
- Upholding a standard of best-in-class food preparation practices
