Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Product Developer to join our Pasadena team. This role is ideal for a detail oriented product development professional with experience managing custom packaging and consumer product projects from concept through production.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing custom packaging or consumer products and possess a strong understanding of product specifications, artwork files, technical layouts, and manufacturing processes. This position works closely with our China office, partner factories, clients, and internal teams to ensure successful development and execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage product and packaging development projects from concept through production.
• Develop custom packaging solutions including rigid boxes, gift bags, tissue paper, paperboard packaging, metal tins, and other specialty packaging components.
• Create and review product specifications, technical drawings, artwork layouts, and dielines to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
• Coordinate closely with our China office and manufacturing partners to communicate project requirements, technical details, timelines, and revisions.
• Review samples, prototypes, and production submissions to ensure compliance with client requirements and quality standards.
• Collaborate with sales, design, and operations teams to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
• Source materials and manufacturing solutions while balancing quality, functionality, and cost objectives.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, specifications, development records, and approvals.
• Assist in troubleshooting production and development challenges while proposing practical solutions.
• Participate in client communications regarding development progress, sampling updates, and production timelines.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Qualifications
• 4 to 5 years of experience in product development, packaging development, or a related field.
• Experience developing custom packaging products such as rigid boxes, gift bags, tissue paper, paperboard packaging, metal tins, glass components, or similar products is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of product specifications, technical drawings, artwork preparation, packaging layouts, and dielines.
• Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners and factories is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self motivated, proactive, and solutions oriented.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and common project management tools.
• Experience reviewing packaging artwork files and production ready specifications is a plus.
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and packaging design files is preferred.
• Bilingual Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus but not required.
