We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our interdisciplinary team and provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to the individuals we serve.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Clinic-Based Services and the Medical Director, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner delivers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning in alignment with LifeWays’ mission and policies. This role requires strong clinical expertise, collaboration, and the ability to engage consumers in their journey toward recovery.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

Provide direct psychiatric services, including evaluations, medication reviews, prescribing, and monitoring.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Collaborate with psychiatrists, clinicians, and community providers to support integrated care.

Participate in peer reviews, quality improvement activities, and evidence-based practice implementation.

Serve on medical and administrative committees, offering recommendations to enhance clinical programming.

Certify consumers for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization as required by Michigan Mental Health Code.

Provide on-call backup coverage for peers when needed.

Contribute to staff training, program development, and interdisciplinary team goals.

Ensure compliance with confidentiality, recipient rights, and all LifeWays policies.
Required Education / Certification / Licensure
- MSN degree and NP certification in the State of Michigan.
- Licensed to practice as an NP in the State of Michigan.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
- Valid Michigan Controlled Substance License and Drug Enforcement Agency Registration.
- Must pass background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional licenses, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of the National Practitioners Databank/Healthcare Integrity & Protection Databank Search, verification of Board Certification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
- Must be insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by LifeWays.
Preferred Education / Certification/Licensure
- Credentialed to provide Medication Assisted-Treatment for individuals with substance use disorders.
