Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient check-in/out processes
- Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist with medical documentation related to medical history or medical coding
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for enthusiastic learners
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic is advantageous; willingness to learn new software is essential
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to effectively communicate with team members and patients
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques
- Understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
