Our Community Meals program is the heart of this mission, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner 365 days a year to our clients and any member of the community who is hungry.
Lifebridge North Shore is currently seeking a part time Kitchen Cook Assistant to work in our Community Kitchen in Salem MA. Ever wonder what it would be like to be on Chopped? Come join our kitchen staff and find out!
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Culinary experience and/or a certificate in Culinary
- SERV Safe/Food Handler's Certificate (or obtain within 3 months after date of hire)
· Assist with planning a weekly menu of nutritious meals and food for residents
· Preparing food, cook, and serve meals to residents
· Ability to wield a knife, follow recipes and instructions, along with the ability to be creative enough to improvise.
· Monitor and oversee food safety, including storage at proper temperature and attention to expiration dates
· Maintain cleanliness of all cooking supplies, utensils, kitchen area, dining area, and pantry.
· Maintain safety, including stove use, sharp utensils, and heavy items such as large pots and pans
· An individual who is punctual, compassionate and has a good disposition, is flexible, pays attention to safety, is professional and shows initiative.
· Strong focus on job quality and continued improvement, tolerant, and is committed to department unity and teamwork.
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
· Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds of weight, bend, stoop, and access walk-ins (refrigerators and freezers) for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to work weekends
Preferred:
- professional cooking: 1 year
- A culinary arts degree and/or a diploma in food service
- Experience working in a human service environment dedicated to serving the homeless community and individuals with substance abuse issues.
- Knowledge and experience in menu and food production planning, nutrition and special diets
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
