Operations Assistant

Position Overview

EBCSK is seeking a dependable and motivated Operations Assistant to support our Monday food distribution and Tuesday hot meal service. This part-time, in-person role is essential to the daily operations of our programs and to providing efficient, compassionate service to the community.

The Operations Assistant works closely with staff and volunteers to prepare, organize, and distribute food while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming space.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown of Monday food distribution
• Support operational needs for Tuesday hot meal service
• Prepare, organize, transport, and distribute food, supplies, and equipment
• Assist with receiving, moving, and storing food deliveries
• Support and help coordinate volunteers during service times
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of service areas
• Complete additional operational tasks as needed to support EBCSK programs

Physical & Attendance Requirements

• This is a physically demanding, in-person role
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds or more
• Requires standing, walking, bending, and moving for extended periods
• Reliable, consistent attendance at 28 Paris Street, East Boston is required

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience or interest in:

• Nonprofit organizations, community-based programs, or mutual aid efforts
• Food service, food distribution, pantries, kitchens, or warehouse operations
• Serving underserved or underprivileged communities
• Working in culturally diverse, community-centered environments
• Volunteer coordination or direct community service roles
• Bilingual or multilingual skills (especially Spanish or languages commonly spoken in East Boston)
• A strong alignment with EBCSK’s mission, values, and commitment to food justice

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
