The Health Information Management (HIM) Department at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, is integral to our healthcare delivery system. This team manages and safeguards patient data and medical records, ensuring that accurate, confidential, and up-to-date information is available for healthcare providers, administrators, and patients to facilitate high-quality care.

Role of the Manager, Health Information Management
Under limited supervision, the Manager, Health Information Management will oversee the daily operations of HIM at Sinai Hospital. This includes managing a range of HIM functions such as prepping, scanning, quality control, record analysis, physician suspension, EMPI monitoring, and overseeing contracted services for release of information, transcription, and record storage. The manager will ensure compliance with privacy rules and regulations, safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of patient information.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the HIM department, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met; Monitor and report on departmental performance and productivity; reassign tasks as needed to meet deadlines and priorities.
- Perform all functions carried out by HIM staff, providing coverage for critical functions when necessary to meet turnaround times and filling temporary staffing vacancies as needed.
- Ensure quality and performance standards are met according to established goals, and prepare detailed and summary reports for the Director; Conduct monthly quality reviews of staff in all functional areas to ensure adherence to departmental standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a comparable setting.
- At least 5 years of experience in medical record management, particularly in an electronic record environment.
- Certifications:
- Must possess either a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
