Overview
We are seeking energetic and compassionate Direct Support Staff/Behavior Technicians to join our team! In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism, dementia, or other special needs. Your work will empower clients to achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life through attentive care, positive engagement, and tailored support strategies.
Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medications, and recording care activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Implement individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each person's unique needs.
- Support clients during community outings or in residential settings like group homes or assisted living facilities.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe mobility and prevent injury during transfers.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing client areas.
- Document patient observations, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and promptly.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient observation.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training are highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dementia or Alzheimer's care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and caregivers.
