The OpportunityWe are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in construction estimating within the luxury residential and hospitality sectors. You'll work closely with senior estimators, project managers, architects, and designers to develop accurate, competitive estimates for some of NYC's most distinctive renovation projects.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for high-end residential and interior renovation projects
- Review bid documents to establish project scope and requirements
- Solicit, analyze, qualify, and reconcile subcontractor bids against internal estimates
- Interact with architects, designers, and project teams to clarify scope, design intent, and constructability
- Prepare RFPs and scope outlines for subcontractors across all trades
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and RFIs to ensure complete scope coverage
- Assist with value engineering and change order pricing
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, or project management within construction, ideally in high-end residential or hospitality projects
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bid packages and deadlines simultaneously
- Familiarity with NYC building codes and permitting processes is a plus
