Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Bookkeeper / Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the general contracting industry. Responsibilities and experience using
- Proven bookkeeping experience within the construction or general contracting industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience using Acumatica accounting software is a plus.
- Process payroll accurately and timely while managing related deductions, benefits, and compliance requirements.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by verifying invoices, preparing payments, and reconciling customer payments.
- Create monthly requisitions for payment for each active project using AIA G702 format.
- Coordinate lien waiver documentation for subcontractor requisitions.
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly to ensure consistency between bank statements and company records.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities promptly.
- Source and track insurance qualifications for subcontractors.
- Support project-specific accounting needs such as job cost tracking, project profitability analysis, and cost coding.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain accurate documentation for audits or internal reviews.
- Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to streamline financial workflows and improve reporting accuracy.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and GAAP standards.
- Demonstrated ability in payroll processing, bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Familiarity with financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and budgeting processes.
- Experience working with Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and report writing is required.
