Technology Support Specialist
The job of Technology Support Specialist is done for the purpose/s of integrating technology to enhance the learning environment; installing and maintaining computer hardware and software; providing technical support to site administrators, staff and students; and resolving school site operational issues.
This job reports to the Director of Technology.

Other Functions
Assists users via remote connections at times for the purpose of troubleshooting and/or resolving work order issues.
Attends meetings and training as required for the purpose of ensuring resource efficiencies while complying with established requirements.
Communicates with staff on outages for the purpose of ensuring rapid and responsible attention to incidents and problems.
Facilitates and supervises ticket escalation in a timely manner and update Help Desk tickets with status for the purpose of maintaing district technology and equipment efficiency.
Installs and maintains computers, peripherals, and electronic equipment (e.g. computers, repairs, installation, troubleshooting and/or upgrades, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining and updating overall site operations in classrooms, library, computer labs, etc., and maintaining equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.
Is familiar with industry warranty support and part replacement programs; initiates contact with companies to order parts and complete repairs for the purpose of ensuring operation of equipment for efficiency and productive readiness.
Maintains hardware availability for checkout for the purpose of maintaing accurate records of equipment usage and providing appropriate necessary equipment for special occasion meetings or events.
Maintains a clear understanding of the following configurations for troubleshooting:
- District printer setup
- Networking including WiFi, IP, DHCP, Cisco Devices
- Active Directory for the purpose of ensuring district proficiency and quality
Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. inventory database, preventive maintenance, purchases, inspections, repair logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Performs network troubleshooting for the purpose of maintaining critical site operations.
Possesses software support of IOS and Android mobile devices for the purpose of ensuring district capabilities and necessary intercommunication.
Prepares status reports, user guides and related materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information, and in-service training.
Provides in-classroom support for technology-related equipment (e.g. Applied Technology, Library Media Center and Telecommunications, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding procedures, processes and safety.
Researches computer solutions and latest technology for the purpose of providing best-practices in technology to the Liberty School District.
Responds to request for assistance through multiple communication methods regarding technology- related issues for the purpose of providing quick, quality service within a reasonable timeframe.
Serves as a backup for the help desk for the purpose of providing seamless service to end users.
Trains school site staff and technology assistants on a variety of software applications and hardware operations (e.g. e-mail, student grading, word processing, spread sheet applications, etc.) for the purpose of providing ongoing support and maximizing the capabilities of assigned staff.
Transports and sets up computer equipment to district and district approved buildings for the purpose of providing technology resources in a timely manner.
Works with Software Specialists regarding improvements in the end user desktop experience for the purpose of providing essential information for up-to-date versions and capabilities.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing diagnostic and application software; adhering to safety practices; and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: electronics analysis; multi-platform operating systems and personal computers; appropriate system security; associated peripheral equipment; and troubleshooting methodologies.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 30% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
