This role is ideal for a detail-oriented estimator who thrives in a fast-paced preconstruction environment and has experience pricing complex civil scopes from concept through bid submission.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and site development projects ranging from utility installation and grading to paving and stormwater infrastructure
- Perform quantity takeoffs and scope analysis using HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK Earthwork 4D, Bluebeam, and PlanSwift
- Review civil drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and risk exposure
- Coordinate RFIs, subcontractor pricing, vendor quotes, and bid clarifications to ensure accurate and competitive proposals
- Collaborate with project management and field operations teams to support bid strategy, scheduling, and execution planning
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while maintaining strong communication with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
- Analyze production rates, labor costs, and unit pricing to align estimates with DOT and municipal standards
- 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, preconstruction, and/or project management experience
- Experience with civil infrastructure projects including utilities, drainage, grading, paving, excavation and sitework
- Proficiency with industry software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK Earthwork 4D, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and civil takeoff software
- Working knowledge of CPM scheduling, cost forecasting, procurement, and construction contracts
- Ability to interpret civil plans, specifications, and bid packages
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Stable pipeline of public and private work
