Construction Estimator
My client is a well regarded Construction Management firm in Philadelphia. Usually in the Top Ten in volume of Construction Management as per the Philly Business Journal every year. The Estimator reports to the Estimator (PM). The Estimator is responsible for estimating and bidding work himself, assist with preparation of CM proposals and participate in presentations. The Estimator must interface and interact with all levels of the company, with owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors. The Estimator must maintain extensive involvement in, and awareness of, construction techniques and knowledge of deveoping methods and materials with in the industry. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Preconstruction Services The Estimator is responsible for working in all aspects of the preconstruction phase including working closely with the PM responsible for the overall project, Project Managers and Superintendants, bidding and purchasing phases and to ensure a seamless transition. Conceptual Estimating The Estimator candidate will work closely with the PM to develop schematic budgets through solicitation of subcontractor input, accurate quantity takeoffs, and identification of potential items within the budget that may not be shown on the current set of documents. Estimating and Bidding The Estimator will estimate and/or bid work as assigned by the PM. Review of Estimates The Estimator is responsible for all budgets, estimates and bids prepared by him. Subcontractor Selection The Estimator will make recommendations to the PM on bid day and during purchasing for selection of subcontractors. Subcontractor Relationships The Estimator shall work with the PM to implement an ongoing subcontractor relationship plan with the goal of expanding our base with quality subcontractors. Training The Estimator will work to expand their capacity and knowledge base. Complacency is not rewarded. Support Systems Make recommendations concerning new hardware and software or upgrades that could improve performance, update ITB system and database. Reporting Estimators report to the Preconstruction Manager asssigned to a specific project, for all day to day project specific issues. It is assumed that the Estimator will have the capability to run with tasks to completion and take chances - yet ask questions when needed. No "hand-holding" will be performed. REQUIREMENTS Candidate will have 2-5 years of relevent experience in the construction industry. Candidate will have a minimum of a bachelors degree in architecture, engineering or construction management or other relevant degree.Candidate will have experience using the following: On-Screen Takeoff Software, Microsoft Office Programs, Microsoft Project, or Sure Trak. Candidate will be a team player, willing to put in what it takes to get the job done and be able to have a great time doing so!!! If this sounds like you, let's talk!
