Staff Accountant
LHH is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing manufacturing company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, and supporting tax, reporting, and compliance functions. This position is Direct Hire (permanent placement) and is 100% onsite in Hebron Kentucky. Pay will range between $65K and $80K annually.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
- Support inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations and cost analysis.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and preparing schedules.
- Prepare financial reports and management reporting packages.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting concepts.
- Experience preparing or reviewing sales and use tax filings.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
