Payroll Specialist

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a growing manufacturing organization in Oklahoma City. This role will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing payroll within a manufacturing environment and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Review and audit timekeeping records to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax information.
- Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger entries.
- Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, pay changes, and benefits deductions.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll tax reporting.
- Support payroll audits and maintain confidential employee information.
- Collaborate with Accounting and HR to improve payroll processes and reporting.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of payroll experience required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll for hourly employees, including overtime calculations.
- Knowledge of payroll laws, payroll taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-state payroll experience is a plus.
- CPP certification is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with large employee populations preferred.
