Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer

Location: Moriarty, NM (Onsite)

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $125K - $150K

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an innovative aerospace organization seeking a skilled Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This role is responsible for analyzing, modeling, and optimizing complex aerospace structures and components through advanced simulation techniques. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in structural analysis, FEA methodologies, and aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural performance, including stress, strain, fatigue, vibration, thermal, and dynamic analyses.
  • Develop and refine simulation models to support the design and validation of aerospace structures and components.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize designs for weight, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Analyze material behavior and structural integrity under varying operational and environmental conditions.
  • Correlate simulation results with physical testing and support validation efforts.
  • Document findings, prepare technical reports, and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, systems integration, and testing.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in structural analysis or FEA, preferably within aerospace, defense, aviation, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proficiency with FEA software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, material science, and nonlinear analysis techniques.
  • Experience performing material, geometric, and contact nonlinear analyses.
  • Experience using explicit dynamics solvers such as LS-Dyna for impact, drop testing, crash analysis, or related simulations.
  • Knowledge of composite structure design and analysis, including laminates, sandwich panels, failure criteria, and ply-level analysis.
  • Experience with classical stress analysis methods and free-body diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle, airframe, or propulsion system development.
  • Familiarity with advanced aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with thermal, fatigue, and vibration analysis.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • FEA software certifications.
  • Scripting or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, or VBA.
