What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Financial Controller position at LHH?
LHH is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close, and financial reporting in a hybrid work environment. This role partners closely with the Controller and cross‑functional leaders to ensure timely, accurate financials, strong internal controls, and actionable insights that drive the business forward.
What You’ll Do
- Own key components of month‑end close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports in accordance with US GAAP
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across multiple entities/accounts
- Support internal controls and compliance; help document and refine accounting policies
- Assist with budgeting/forecasting and variance analysis; explain drivers and propose actions
- Partner with AP/AR, operations, and FP&A to streamline workflows and improve data quality
- Contribute to audit requests and deliverables (external and internal)
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong general ledger experience (multi-entity, multi‑department)
- Hands‑on financial reporting experience (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow)
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and Excel
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills; high attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
Nice to Have
- Public accounting or audit exposure (Big 4 or regional)
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi‑site environments
- Exposure to SOX controls and documentation
- Power BI or similar reporting/visualization tools
Work Environment & Location
- Hybrid schedule with a combination of on‑site collaboration and remote focus time
