LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a client in Southfield, MI that is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and oversee a high‑volume, multi‑entity AP function. This is a leadership‑focused role with primary responsibility for people management, process ownership, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise two Accounts Payable Specialists, providing coaching, training, performance feedback, and professional development to build a high‑performing AP team
- Establish and manage team workload distribution, prioritization, and quality standards to meet close deadlines and organizational service levels
- Maintain authority to hire, discipline, and recommend termination, with accountability for staffing and performance management decisions
- Manage full‑cycle accounts payable operations, including invoice receipt, coding, approval routing, payment processing, and reconciliation across 35 properties and multiple legal entities
- Ensure accurate and timely disbursements (checks, ACH, wire transfers, and electronic payments) while maintaining proper authorization controls and segregation of duties
- Monitor AP aging reports, resolve vendor disputes, and ensure invoices are coded to appropriate funds, departments, entities, and grant sources
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, including AP accruals, cutoff schedules, and supporting documentation
- Drive adoption of electronic payments, automated approval workflows, and digital invoice capture, replacing manual legacy processes
- Manage vendor onboarding, master file maintenance, and vendor relationships; negotiate payment terms as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Associates, Bachelors or relavent applicable experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounts payable experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or people‑management role
- Experience overseeing AP operations (not transactional processing)
- Experience in nonprofit finance, affordable housing, senior living, healthcare, and/or real estate strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, multi‑entity environments, and close processes
Compensation:
💰 $75,000 – $90,000 annually
