Senior Counsel, Litigation and EmploymentIndustry: Consumer Services and RetailA leading organization in the consumer services and retail sector is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to support a fast-paced legal function with a wide range of litigation and employment matters. This role offers meaningful access to senior leadership, partnership with cross functional teams, and the ability to influence strategy across a dynamic and growing business.About the RoleThe Senior Counsel will manage a diverse litigation portfolio that includes commercial, employment, consumer, and class action matters, along with state and federal investigations. This attorney will oversee outside counsel, partner directly with business leaders, and help develop processes that strengthen compliance and risk mitigation. The role also includes daily collaboration with HR, operations, sales, service, and other key stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesLitigation ManagementManage a high volume portfolio of 75 to 100 active matters across commercial, labor and employment, consumer, and regulatory categories.Direct outside counsel and ensure alignment with business priorities, risk profile, and long term strategy.Oversee all phases of disputes from pre litigation through trial and appeal.Employment Law and CounselingProvide guidance on workplace issues including hiring, wage and hour compliance, performance management, accommodations, discipline, internal investigations, discrimination and harassment.Draft and negotiate employment related agreements such as offer letters, separation agreements, restrictive covenants, compensation plans, arbitration agreements, and compliance policies.Regulatory and Investigative WorkRespond to state and federal investigations, including EEOC, wage and hour inquiries, regulatory complaints, and agency correspondence.Process Improvement and InnovationAdvance operational efficiency through improved workflows, SOPs, and litigation playbooks.Partner with leadership to evaluate tools that support automation, data driven insights, and legal technology enhancements.Cross Functional LeadershipBuild trust based relationships across the enterprise, offering proactive guidance that strengthens compliance and reduces risk.Present recommendations to senior management and collaborate closely with the legal leadership team.Candidate ProfileJuris Doctor from an accredited law school.Minimum of five years' experience in commercial litigation and labor and employment matters with a preference for combined law firm and in house experience.Strong decision-making skills and the ability to distill complex issues into practical advice.Proven success managing outside counsel and prioritizing a high-volume workload.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship building skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong judgment and professionalism.Interest in process design, innovation, and legal technology enhancements.What Makes This Opportunity AttractiveHighly collaborative culture with strong respect for work life balance.Significant exposure to senior leadership and decision makers.Opportunity to influence legal operations and modernize litigation processes.A role that blends sophisticated litigation oversight with hands on employment counseling.CompensationA competitive compensation package will be offered, including base salary with a target range of $150k-200k, bonus eligibility, and a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401k and more.How to ApplyQualified candidates are encouraged to submit a resume for confidential consideration.
